Septic Service in Ennis, TX

Licensed, insured, and local. Same-day scheduling, upfront pricing, and technicians who know Ellis County systems.

Ennis anchors the southeast corner of Ellis County in the 75119 ZIP, a larger town with an industrial base and a wide ring of rural acreage around it. Between the in-town homes near the Bluebonnet Trails and the farms and shops out on the county roads, the septic mix here runs the full range, from older conventional tanks to newer aerobic spray systems on recent rural builds.

What we handle in Ennis

Tank pumping and cleaning, aerobic repair and aerator replacement, aerobic maintenance contracts, inspections for sales and new construction, drain-field repair, and emergency service. For the businesses and facilities on the industrial side of town, we also handle commercial septic and grease traps.

Local note

Ennis covers a lot of ground, and a rural drive is normal for us. Systems on older farm properties are often overdue for service simply because the last owner never scheduled it. An inspection is the fastest way to find out whether a tank needs pumping or a field needs attention before it surfaces. Permitting runs through the Ellis County authority.

Local septic guide

Septic service in Ennis, TX

Ennis is the industrial anchor of eastern Ellis County, at roughly 25,694 residents in 2025 against 20,159 in the 2020 census (U.S. Census Bureau). I-45, US 287 and SH 34 all run through it, and the city provides water and sewer inside the limits. The septic work here is in the ETJ, the unincorporated fringe, and around Lake Bardwell.

Soil and site conditions around Ennis

Ennis sits in a claypan pocket, not the Houston Black blackland that covers the west side of the county. USDA mapping close to town shows Wilson at around 62 percent, with Mabank and Crockett making up most of the rest. Wilson and Mabank both carry a depth-to-saturated-zone limitation on top of slow water movement, which means a seasonal high water table, not just tight clay. That is a different problem than the one in Waxahachie and it shows up as a system that works fine in August and backs up in March. Trinity clay in the creek bottoms adds flooding and ponding limits. Every one of these soils rates very limited for a conventional absorption field.

Who issues your septic permit in Ennis

The City of Ennis is its own TCEQ authorized agent and issues OSSF permits inside the city limits through its permits and inspections office at 107 N Sherman Street. Outside the limits it is the Ellis County Department of Development in Waxahachie, which takes applications through the MyGovernmentOnline portal. Both require a TCEQ-licensed installer and a maintenance contract on aerobic systems.

Ennis septic questions

Questions we get from Ennis property owners

These are specific to Ennis. For statewide rules, pumping intervals and current North Texas price ranges, see our septic cost guide and the Ellis County service area page.

My system works fine most of the year but backs up in spring. Why?

Very likely the water table. The Wilson and Mabank soils around Ennis carry a documented depth-to-saturated-zone limitation, which means the ground stays wet seasonally. A drain field that has enough capacity in dry months can lose it when the water table comes up. That is a design and drainage question, and it is fixable, but pumping the tank alone will not solve it.

Do I permit through the City of Ennis or Ellis County?

Inside the city limits, the City of Ennis. It holds its own TCEQ authorized agent designation. Outside the limits, the Ellis County Department of Development, through the MyGovernmentOnline portal.

Are lots near Lake Bardwell treated differently?

The setbacks are the binding constraint. TCEQ requires 75 feet from a lake, creek or pond at normal pool to any soil absorption area, and Lake Bardwell is a federal reservoir on Waxahachie Creek with mapped floodplain around it. Get a site evaluation before you buy a lake lot, not after.

I run a shop or plant on the east side. Do you handle commercial systems?

Yes. Commercial OSSF work, grease trap service and larger-flow systems are part of what we do. Commercial design flow calculations and the permitting are different from a house, so tell us the use and the fixture count when you call.
