Houston Black and Ferris both move water at roughly 0.03 inches per hour and both are rated very limited for a conventional absorption field. On the sloped Ferris-Heiden ground you get a slope limitation stacked on top of the texture limitation, which narrows where a disposal area can legally go. Countywide in 2024, Ellis County authorized 692 new systems and 666 of them, about 96 percent, were aerobic spray. The soil is why.
The City of Ferris is not a TCEQ authorized agent, so OSSF permits come from the Ellis County Department of Development at 302 N Monroe Street in Waxahachie. There is a very small piece of Ferris in Dallas County; anything on that side falls to Dallas County Health and Human Services, Environmental Health. All work requires a TCEQ-licensed installer, and aerobic systems have to stay under a maintenance contract.
